Bastia, after relegation, becomes the only representative of Corsican professional football. The club will be one of the 18 founding clubs of the new Ligue 3. The French Football Federation has launched a long-awaited project: the creation of the Ligue 3 professional league. The championship will feature 18 clubs and will be played over 34 matches. The top two teams will qualify directly for Ligue 2, while teams ranked third to sixth will participate in play-offs. The winner of these playoffs will face the last-placed team in Ligue 2. The FFF's goal is clear: to prevent the financial difficulties that are currently weakening professional football from recurring at the third national level. The Federation has built an unprecedented model based on reinforced financial regulation. From 2027, club salaries will be capped at 60% of their revenue, then gradually reduced to 50% and 40%. Clubs that exceed these ratios will have to pay a solidarity contribution inspired by North American models. A mandatory pre-financing system for losses will also secure the budgets. Bastia will benefit from special support to compensate for the costs related to travel. This particular attention is part of a broader policy of support for clubs. The budget allocated to Ligue 3 will reach 12.3 million euros, compared to 5.8 million this season.
